A brief note on the designation "Fachanwalt Familienrecht". A lawyer may call himself a "specialist lawyer" if he has acquired and proven special theoretical and practical knowledge in a particular field of law. This professional title is awarded by the Bar Association in accordance with the Specialist Lawyer Regulations. Prerequisites are three years of admission to the bar in the last six years prior to application as well as proof of special expertise. For this purpose, seminars must be attended and additional examinations must be passed. Regular continuing education in the field of family law is also mandatory.
